Grateful Dead : Dave’s Picks 25 Volume Twenty Five : Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena – Binghamton, New York (NY) – November 6, 1977 (11/6/1977) : 3 CD : 2018 (1977/2018) Grateful Dead Productions, Inc. / Rhino (GDP / Rhino) : Limited Edition’ Individually-Numbered’ Set (of # 18,000) : The 25th! Installment of the Grateful Dead’ Dave’s Picks’ Series 2012 – 2018 & Counting! Grateful Dead 1977 Fall Tour New York Night – at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena – on November 6th, 1977!!! Did’77 Live-Dead Get Any-Better Than’ This! & Does’ Any’ Live-Dead Get Any-Better Than This! Pondering this very-carefully now (for now well-over 30-years)….. I’m personally siding-with……. But, This-One sure doesn’t need any help from me.. The Grateful Dead – Broome Co. Arena – Binghampton, New York – 11/6/77!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, as I just Totally-Love-This. Mental-Notes’ on This Grateful Dead MONSTERSHOW!!! For me personally over the last 30+ Years. And right here & now… I’m going to actually try to ” Explain ” this Show?? ! If I collected all of my tangible & intangible ” notes ” taken down & noted on This-One! Little pieces of scrap paper, tape cover backs, notebooks, trader lists, etc. I’d probably have Over-300!!! Those have pretty much’ scattered’ just about everywhere over the last Three-Decades Plus! As at least for me & Many-Other! Deadheads I’ve Known Since the’80’s! Isn’t just a’ Dead Show’… It’s a Religion! And, if you already know this Show (which, I’m just really-really hoping you already do – simply because life is short) – let’s just put it two’ quick’ ways for starters… And, if you (very-likely) had the same A-/B+ Soundboard Tapes from the Late-’80s / Early’90’s — then yeah… Just common-sense here — This-Show was’ Selected’ as the 25th! Dave’s Picks Series release. So, kinda what I’m saying here… Is that this-means that Dave’s Picks ” 30 “, ” 40 “, 50! Are all pretty-much Screwed! It just really cannot-be-beat. So, you’re going to have to left-turn, right-turn, back-up, or try & move-forward… Because I’m not really sure that 11/6/77 Binghamton!!! Can it be Equaled? – I don’t know, maybe? But, with that said & to me… I just can’t really even go there myself. I mean let’s put it like this… While 1/22/78 MacCourt The Pit! Is my own personal’ Favorite’ Show for yes, many of my own crazy personal Dead Fan reasons… On the flip-side… This 11/6/77 Binghamton Show is the one I personally consider The-Best!!! The Best-Dead-Show from Yes… And too, I’d easily also go as far as saying from the’ Entire’ June 1976 to Winter/Spring 1979 (Post-Hiatus / Keith & Donna Era). And, let me also say – while I wasn’t quite’ always’ there With Grate! Thanks To >>> 11/5/77 Rochester – 10/12/77 Manor Downs – 10/2/77 Portland – 6/9/77 & 6/7/77 Winterland – 5/22/77 Pembroke Pines – 5/19/77 Atlanta – 5/15/77 St. Louis – 5/9/77 Buffalo – and yes, even… 5/8/77 Ithaca – and, maybe even I’ve missed a few here CT & Beantown May’77, etc. But, I think the part about & The Story! On just ” How ” I arrived to this ” Official “’77 Dead’ Conclusion’ of mine here – is even kind of funnier. And, trust me – as it’s a True! I’ll openly admit that the 5/19/77′ Uncle John’s’ itself is personally-responsible for turning me into a Deadhead – when, I was just like a 14 or 15 year old kid. And, when being that Deadhead Kid – I pretty much decided way-early on that ” 1977 ” was’ easily’ my favorite Dead-Year Question… But, is it still Here-Today??? – as I’ll Just Take ” The 5th “!! Cough, cough, 6/30/85, cough… There wasn’t too much’77 that I hadn’t heard by the time I could actually drive. But, when I could finally drive like to Cap Centre & RFK Shows & such with a ” Learner’s Permit ” – Ha! – I was actually driving down to a Cap Centre Show wow… And then – my Buddy R. & I decided This-Claim! Right-here pretty much in full unison… This’77 Binghamton Show might just be The-Best! 1977 Grateful Dead Show? ! And then we so eloquently decided as young-kids asking openly for politically-correct Deadhead forgiveness in advance here – ha! – because I do actually love Donna-Dead overall — You know, if you actually could just trade the’ Sunrise’ here in this 11/6/77 Binghamton Show – for one-of the’ scarce’ 1 of the Only-5! & switch the Set around accurately – to accommodate’ The Dew! Dead Show of 1977!!!!! And from there on out, we always kind of joked about this. Like a 1/2 Decade later – I was doing a crazy-long Oregon > Bay Area East Bay! – and having all of the time in the world to’ Think’ & Listen to 11/6/77 Binghamton! And, it goes just like this >>> You know… You don’t even need-to-lose’ Sunrise’ – and you don’t even need-to-add’ The Dew!!! Grateful Dead Show of 1977!!!!! So yeah – Done & Dusted!!! – at least for me. Like – check it off the list!! And I’m extra-proud of it now too – for sure, being that it is now Officially Dave’s Picks 25! Because our thought on this was originally-born (by us) in like 1988/1989… And’ Finally’ decided-upon (by me) in 1994/1995. As the simple Truth! That the Boys (& Gal) Flat-Out Prove! This claim we’ve made – from the 1/2 Step Mississippi’ Show-Opener’!! Through the Johnny B. This Binghamton Show is not-only Stellar!! – but it is straight-up MEAN!!! This-is a 35-Year Young! Jerry Garcia just playing Out-Of-His-Mind!! In fact, this Show is just So-Nasty!!! That I really hate to say it – but, it probably really could not have happened as a’ West Coast’ Dead Show. As just like 11/5 (Rochester) right before it… There is just Out-Of-This-Universe!!! High-Energy East Coast style New York! And, let’s not forget too… Jerry, Bobby, BK, Phil & Mick were probably still all thinking about The-Other – 5/2/70 Binghamton!!! – yeah, the one which Dick Latvala Himself! Liked to openly refer to as… The Show Of All Shows!!! So, I don’t know Dick… If Binghamton’70 &’77 go head-to-head for 10-Rounds? Does’77 have a Fighting’ Chance’?? I’ll come right-out & say it… >>>>> Scarlet > Fire > Good Lovin’ > St. Stephen > Drums > NFA > Rat > St. But, you know – to each their own… We all know & respect-that always a must… But, at least to me & these humble Dead Fan ears of mine?
